Every Child Deserves to Be Understood
Whether it's speech, feeding, language, or finding the right way to communicate — if something feels off, trust that feeling. You're in the right place.
Play-based, neurodiversity-affirming speech, feeding, and language therapy in Westchester, NY & Chicago, IL.
Why Families Trust Us
Finding the right therapist for your child is one of the most important decisions you'll make. Here's why families across Westchester and Chicago choose Baker Speech Therapy.
You'll Never Wonder What It Costs
Every price is on our website. No hidden fees, no surprise bills, no awkward conversations. You know exactly what therapy costs before your child's first session. We also offer courtesy insurance billing so you may get reimbursed.
We Understand How Your Child Learns
Our therapists are trained in PROMPT, Gestalt Language Processing, and SOS Feeding approaches. We don't use a one-size-fits-all method — we figure out how your child learns best and build therapy around that.
You're Part of the Team
You won't sit in a waiting room wondering what's happening. We involve you in every session, teach you strategies to use at home, and keep you updated on progress. Therapy works best when parents are partners.
Why Starting Sooner Makes a Difference
We never want a parent to feel rushed or pressured. But we also don't want you to look back in a year and wish you'd started sooner.
The research is clear: children who receive early support make faster progress and often need fewer total sessions. The brain is most receptive to building new skills in the early years — and every month of support counts.
Waiting to "see if they grow out of it" feels safe. But an evaluation gives you something better than waiting — it gives you answers. And answers are never a bad thing.
An Evaluation Gives You Clarity
Stop Googling symptoms at midnight. A single visit tells you exactly where your child is, what's going well, and what would help them thrive.
Earlier Support = Faster Progress
Children who start therapy earlier typically reach their goals in fewer sessions — which means less time in therapy and more time just being a kid.
You Don't Need to Be Sure
You don't need a referral or a diagnosis. If you have a question — that's enough. We'll tell you honestly what we think.

Meet Lauren Baker, CCC-SLP
Lauren is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who has been working with children since 2018. She founded Baker Speech Therapy because she believes every family deserves honest answers, transparent pricing, and a therapist who truly understands their child.
Her approach is play-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in the latest research. She works closely with families because she knows therapy works best when parents are part of the team.
When she's not in the clinic, you'll find Lauren training for her next half marathon or Hyrox competition, spending time with her big family (she's one of 26 first cousins!), or relaxing with her dog King and a good cup of coffee.
Questions Parents Ask Us
If you're on the fence, you're not alone. These are the questions we hear most often.
Absolutely. You don't need a referral, a diagnosis, or certainty that something is "wrong." If you have a question about your child's speech, language, or feeding — that's enough. Our evaluation will give you a clear answer: either your child is right on track and you get peace of mind, or there are specific things we can do to help and you get a plan. Either way, you win.
We love pediatricians — they're an essential part of your child's care team. But speech and language development is our entire focus. We see the nuances that a 15-minute well-child visit can't always catch. If your gut is telling you something, trust it. An evaluation doesn't override your pediatrician's advice — it adds to it. And if everything looks great, you'll have that reassurance.
It's almost never too early. Research consistently shows that earlier support leads to faster progress and better long-term outcomes. The brain is most receptive to building new skills in the early years. Starting at 2 doesn't mean something is seriously wrong — it means you're giving your child every advantage.
We love that — parent involvement is one of the biggest predictors of therapy success. But here's the thing: the right strategies depend on understanding why your child is struggling. A language delay, a motor planning issue, and a sensory challenge all look similar on the surface but need completely different approaches. An evaluation tells us which strategies will actually work for your child, so you're not guessing.
We're transparent about every cost — no hidden fees, no surprises. Sessions range from $165-$235 and evaluations from $275-$400. We're private pay, but we offer courtesy billing for commercial insurance, meaning we submit claims on your behalf for potential reimbursement. Many families receive a portion back.
You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone
Tell us about your child and we'll tell you honestly what we think — even if the answer is "they're doing great."
No commitment. No pressure. Just clarity.
